Day 3 'Love Is Not Selfish'

Romans 12:10
[Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

* The opposite of Love is selfishness
* Almost every sinful action ever committed can be traced back to a selfish motive!
* When a wife constantly complains about the time and energy she spends meeting the needs of her husband, that's a sign of selfishness.
* When you prioritize the well being of your mate, there is a resulting fulfillment that cannot be duplicated by selfish actions.
* Love leads to inner joy.

Today's Dare

Whatever you put your time, energy, and money into will become more important to you. It's hard to care for something you are not invested in. Along with restraining from negative comments, buy your spouse something that says " I was thinking of you today".

Question at the end of Day 3
What did you choose to give your husband? What happened when you gave it?

I went to the grocery store and bought a new can of "Axe" fragrant spray for men. I came home and gave it to my hubby. He said he already had a full can upstairs:( Then he could see I was a little disappointed I think cause he quickly said "Thank you! This is a new scent, I will use it too" So, I felt a little better. LOL
I also had a hard time again today with holding my tongue. I got out of bed in the beginning of my nap time (which is basically my sleep since I work nights)and my hubby asked me to help him carry a piece of furniture downstairs. I said "DURING MY NAP??" I quickly remembered the dare and proceeded to help carry the piece of furniture down so I could return to my nap. I have to say it is pretty hard and seems unfair to do this dare one sided! But that is how we learn to have strength:)

Dear Brandie, this love dare is making ne realise something: that my husband and I practically hardly meet. He comes home from work and the kids demand our full attention. Then it's bath time, dinner, gmaes and books with kids and bed time. Many times he is so tired that he falls asleep with them and that's it. I'm finding it hard to do this dare because I'm finding it hard to meet him!

Also we finished our budget for this week so I cannot even buy him something :(

I am sorry you are having a difficult time.Don't give up, just purpose to the next dare :) It is ok, you don't have to buy anything, just try to be creative. Maybe a love note left for him. As you give unselfishly, I promise there will come a time your husband WILL see. I remember being weary to. I wanted so bad to have the love, snuggling and attention, I felt I deserved. I felt like I could not give any longer...However as I drew strength from God he got me through those times. It is not easy but so worth it!

I think there are many couples who struggle with spending time together when they have young children. But, I think it is KEY that we make time. I can sense in your post the frustration, I know it's hard. ::::Hug:::. I can promise you if you hang on, it will get better. Not sure if this helps, hope it does.
Love,
Brandie

Peggy...lol, I had to chuckle, typical male response. During Valentines week, each day I did something (I thought) special. At the end of the week I asked my husband if he enjoyed his week of goodies? He replied: "What Goodies"
:::sigh:::: lol then I named everything I did...and he was like
Ohhhhh yes, lol

What did I choose?

His favorite drink Walmart's selzer water. I stopped after church to buy a case of it.

What happened when I gave it?

He was thankful :) He was not feeling so well last night (poor hubby)

Yay Brandie!! Sounds like a successful day. LOL to your reply to me - men think SO differently to women!

Hang in there Isabel! I have been frustrated too. Today was uh... not the greatest for me:) But I look forward to what lies ahead!
